Baby (Number 2) Journal: 11 weeks

Dear Baby,

This was a big week. Your Uncle Jonny got married, and we finally announced we were expecting you. I feel like I'm finally getting over this ickiness hump that I've been struggling with lately. Although certain foods still are not appealing, I don't feel yucky most of the afternoon anymore.

As always with my pregnancies....the food that always sounds good are icecream, sushi and beef jerky....two of which I am supposed to avoid.

I plan to be making it to my goal of not breaking out maternity clothes until at least second trimester, so that's great! Now I suspect they will come out in waves (shorts first...because mine are getting uncomfortable). But I'd like to hold off as long as possible. Twice I've worn jeans to work and thought "Yep...these are going in that box labeled 'don't open until you are not pregnant'"
Its hard to believe this time during my last pregnancy we were just telling your Dad's parents about Lorelai. We…

Lorelai is Becoming a Big Sister!

Our little girl is becoming a big sister! We are excited to be expecting Baby #2 in February!

Baby (Number 2) Journal: 10 weeks

Dear Baby,

I'm not sure what it is about 10 weeks, but I finally feel like things are moving along. My pants are getting a bit uncomfortable when I sit down, but overall I still feel pretty normal.

At the end of this week, we headed to Colorado for your Uncle Jonny's wedding. We are waiting until after the wedding to start being public about expecting you, but are excited to tell everyone very soon.

Granny gave Lorelai a baby doll while we were in Colorado, and she loves it. She especially loves to look at the baby's little hands. She will make a great big sister.

Pregnancy brings on the most vivid dreams for me. And not in a good way. They wake me up and leave me confused, whether good or bad dreams, they just seem so real.

Baby (Number 2) Journal: 9 weeks

Dear Baby,

The weeks are starting to go by much more quickly. We decided last week that we are going to wait to find out whether you will be a boy or girl until my normal 20 week ultrasound. Even though we can have genetic testing done to find out your gender next week....we are going to wait. No need to rush things!
This week I told my coworkers, boss and more of our family about you. Everyone is very excited for you to arrive!
Your sister has been sick this week, which hasn't been fun for anyone. I'm trying to be more careful not to get sick myself again, as being sick while pregnant is never any fun. Lorelai has been practicing "Doctor" with her Moana doll and taking her temperature, which I'm sure she will enjoy doing with you too someday.
We still like to play "where is the baby" with Lorelai, but now everyone has a baby in their tummy (including Lorelai) which is a little confusing. We also picked up a toddler bed for Lorelai in hopes that we ca…

Family Trip: Toronto and Niagara

Over the long holiday weekend (we made it long!) our family took a trip up north! We flew into Buffalo/Niagara to first visit the falls, then headed up to Toronto for the rest of the weekend.

Our first day we spent half the day at Niagara falls (Canada side) and walked around enjoying the falls and outdoors!

The second half the day we drove the hour or so up to Toronto and headed straight for the Distillery District for dinner and shopping at the St. Lawrence Market. Then headed to our Airbnb for the night.
I cannot stress enough how much we love staying at Airbnb's when traveling with a toddler (actually we love them all the time, but with a kid it is especially nice). If you haven't tried it, use this link to get $40 off your first trip! We stayed in an awesome house, in the heart of everything touristy we wanted to visit. It was a 2 bedroom home, so Lorelai had her own space which let us explore and stay up later than we would otherwise have been able to with a sleeping to…

Baby (Number 2) Journal: Week 8

Hi Baby,

So much has happened this week! You took your first trip, which was also your first trip out of the country! Also, we got to see you for the first time this week....first photo shoot!

The trip to Toronto was really fun, and besides being a pickier eater (due to feeling yucky a lot of time) and more tired and a bit more winded when walking...I feel pretty normal. My normal clothes still fit just fine, but my tummy is sticking out more than I would like...but who doesn't think that.

I'd forgotten about ligament pain until this week, when I laughed hard lying down and had to grab my side from the sharp pain. I had that a lot with Lorelai and had to be careful when sneezing, coughing or laughing too suddenly as I would get a sharp pain in my side.

Baby (Number 2) Journal: Week 7

Hi Baby,

You're making me sick. My sickness is more of all day, or even primarily evening sickness. I think that is better than your sister though, who made me cry during Week 7 (see post here)

Apart from a constant general yucky feeling, and aversion to anything that isn't cookies and icecream and the occasional Popsicle...I don't feel too pregnant yet. My pants are buttoning just fine (thank goodness) although I know that won't last long. I'm very aware that the internet tells me for my 2nd child my pants will stop fitting earlier than before, which I'm not looking forward to!

Your sister is practicing with more of her baby dolls lately (okay mostly her iron man and spider man action figures) but we've got to assume she is getting a little practice in.

One of my most difficult things in pregnancy is striving to get enough protein. Meat has never been a favorite thing of mine, and especially not so while pregnant. There are only so many servings of greek yo…
