Baby (Number Two) Journal: Week 3

Hi Baby,

I want to make a point to document this pregnancy just like I did with your big sister, but don't hold me to the highest standard here...things change with number 2. It's not that I will love you any less than I do Lorelai, but I will love you in different ways.

So this week we found we were expecting you. We found out early. There is something about doing this a second time that I am much more attune to my own body, and suspected earlier on I was pregnant.

I didn't do a big cute announcement to your dad...it went a little like this.

About to go out on a date, ran to pee first and thought "Yep, I should do this". Didn't have time to check the test and stuck it in my back pocket. Waived goodbye to your grandparents who were watching Lorelai and once in the garage called over to your dad "hey...does this look like a line to you?"

And that was that, you were now the focus of our thoughts the rest of the evening.

We had been praying for you. An…

Omaha Children's Museum: New Exhibits

There are 3 new exhibits at the Omaha Children's museum that just opened! Kevin and Lorelai were able to check it out Tuesday, so I'm going to turn it over to Kevin for to tell you about it!

The largest of the three new exhibits was Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles exhibit. This whole area was highly interactive and had something for all age groups. It has all kinds of games and puzzles to solve, some involve team work, mind exercises, mazes and our favorite...target practice! They even have a toddler area just for smaller kids who are too young for the interactive stuff. No matter what age your kids are they will love all the things there are to explore not to mention getting to see the Ninja Turtle statues provided by Nickelodeon and Universal Studios! Our favorite part was the foam pizza shooter....which Lorelai almost got smacked in the head with one when we were playing!

Another of the new exhibits is Children’s China: Celebrating Culture, Character & C…

The-Not-So-Perfect Me

I recently read a book (Girl, Wash Your Face) where the author had a strong media presence, and felt it was especially important that her readers know she wasn't as put to together as she appeared on social media. She wanted to strengthen women, break through the veil of thinking they should have it all together, despite how this author appeared to on her blog. I liked that.

If you don't see me on a regular basis in person, or don't have a chance to talk to me outside of social media often, it isn't uncommon for someone to make the statement that I can "do it all" or "have it all together". (Those who know me well are laughing, because they know what I mess I can be in reality).

I must say, I love my life. I love the woman, mother and wife I have become. Everyone has hard times, faults and failures. I had to fail at a LOT of things to get me where I am today. Here are a few things you may not have known about me, that at the time...were some pretty …

Favorite Books for Millennial Women

I am a Millennial. We are considered those that are age 22-37 during 2018. Since I'm 30, I like to think of myself as smack in the middle of the Millennial generation. It's a broad range of range of ages and life stages. You may be in college, or you may be married with 4 children in the suburbs...you never know what you are going to get when you say "Millennial".

With each life stage, I tend to favor a book that reflects most what I needed at that time in my life. Here are some of my favorites during each life stage (or ones I wish I would have found during that life stage)!

Working WomanLean In.
Every working woman should read this every year, I've started to make it a habit for me. I read it before Lorelai was in the picture, and now that I'm a working mom. I take something away each time I read it.

College/Lower 20'sAdulting. This book is hilarious, but is also full of great tips that every single 20-something should know.

Parenting a Toddler

Can I just say... I love toddlerhood. Absolutely LOVE it. I love every single thing about having a toddler in my home. I love to rush home to see her smiling face, and I can't wait to see what new trick she has learned each day.

I want a permanent toddler in my house at all times.

Kevin and I agree we have almost no desire to have a child under the age of 1 in our house ever again.

Yes, I know every child is different. This is not a blanket statement about all kids and babies...just our first-time parent observation.

Toddlers are amazing.

First, they learn so much...and so incredibly fast. This is the stage where they start to repeat words you tell them, and all of a sudden can point to anything from "bubbles" to "apples" to "ducks"  in a book and actually know the object in the book.
Since we have so many books on London, she can even point out "Big Ben" in each of her books. We have a million London books not just because we love London, b…

Our favorite Toddler Travel Items

We've been traveling a lot with our 16 month old....and there are a few items we are loving! If you are about to go on a trip with a toddler...do not click through and buy every single one of these items. Each of these have been great for certain trips of ours....but we don't bring all of them for every trip!

Shelf Milk. When on the go, or staying in a hotel without a fridge, we started bringing a few containers of milk with us to have on hand. Shelf milk is extra pasteurized so you don't need to refrigerate it until after opening.

The Stroller sleeping bag. Great for when you will be doing a lot of walking in the cold. It has holes for the straps in your stroller and keeps your toddler warm.

Mattress sheet for travel. Not all hotels come with a sheet on their cribs/pack n plays. This is something we brought, just in case....and used it as the hotel did not have a sheet for her crib. Placing a toddler directly on a mattress was not high on my list of things I wanted to do.
