2016 Goals Revisted and 2017 Goals Set!

Each year we like to look back at how we did on meeting our goals for the year, as well as set new ones! You can see how we reflected back on our 2015 goals here. That was a big year for us as we become debt free that year! We didn't hit all our goals for 2016, but things change (like the fact we got pregnant early in 2016) but we feel great about how we've ended this year!
Now on to goal setting for 2017! (Yes, you may be thinking "but you still have an entire month to accomplish these goals!" but with the baby coming soon I've rearranged a few priorities here...so I'm taking December off and plan to simply take life as it comes this month!)

2016 Goals Revisited  1. Meet with a Financial Planner. Whoops. Nope, I never did get around to doing this. Honestly I think the buying a house took way more effort than I expected, along with managing medical bills for the pregnancy. I still feel great about where we are financially, but those things took priority for me…

Things NOT to Say To A Third Trimester Preggo

Throughout this pregnancy we've had a few posts regarding what NOT to say to pregnant people. We had a generic one that covered first and second trimesteras well as one regarding what not to say when someone is announcing they are pregnant. Third trimester brings on a WHOLE new set of things not to say to pregnant people....so if you want to show that preggo in your life you care... Start by not saying one of the following, but as always if you're stuck for something to say I give you a few acceptable questions to use instead!
"Wow, You're still here?" Or any version of showing disappointment that they haven't had their baby yet. Guess what...at this point the preggo may be disappointed too...and if they are, they don't want to talk about it.
"You Look Ready to Pop!" If I look ready, I'm probably about to pop you in the jaw for saying it because this whale and her emotions are getting the better of her.
"Are you Dilated?" Okay, I a…

Baby Journal: Week 36

Hi Lorelai,
This weekend your church family threw a baby shower just for you! Everything was Alice in Wonderland themed (just like your nursery) and we felt so loved by everyone! We had incredible hostesses that were just wonderful, and we loved that our family from Lincoln could come visit and share in celebrating you arriving very soon!

Work also celebrated your upcoming arrival with cinnamon rolls, Starbucks and a get together on Friday! We are feeling so loved by everyone!
We had our last big set of photo session this past weekend. I could barely walk for a few hours after the session due to all the moving and squatting I do when I take photos...but it was a great day!
Each week we have a doctor's appointment to check on how you're doing. Everything is still good and on track! No signs that you'll be making an early appearance.

This week was also Thanksgiving! We ate a lot and had fun spending the day with family.

You had your first black friday shopping experience. …

Baby Journal: Week 35

Hi Lorelai,
At the start of Week 35 I had my first contraction. It woke me up at night and didn't really hit me until morning what was happening. I haven't had any more again, but it is very normal to have random contractions in your third trimester, so no concerns there.
We had another ultrasound this week! We found out you are measuring right on target for your due date. You also are in the 75% for size....and your tummy is in the 93%! We're excited for our chubby little girl to arrive. They are estimating you're a little over 6lbs right now...so keep up the good work!
Lady Grey still isn't sure what to think about you right now, but we think you're pretty awesome

I had the glorious pleasure of a manicure and pedicure with one of my good friends.  My feet were giant, and I couldn't get  my pant legs rolled up very far because of the swelling, but it was great!
This weekend was just wonderful. We had a few photo sessions, but the rest of the weekend we …

Baby Journal: Week 34

Hi Lorelai,
Boy (...or Girl I should say...) things sure can change in a week. Last week it was all photo sessions getting scheduled in around work...and this week was all about baby! From meeting with a Pediatrician, Birthing Class, Breastfeeding Class and yet another Dr. Appointment...it's been crazy!

Birthing class was quite the production. It wasn't that Kevin and I learned a ton, but really it just forced us to sit down and think about things we were previously avoiding (like the pain of childbirth and what we wanted the birth plan to be). Your dad did awesome at the first pretend diaper change.

We have a pediatrician, so knock that off the list too! The breastfeeding class was encouraging...it was very "you can do it and here is how" which I loved.
Your dad and I worked on your closet this weekend. Here is the deal, you probably have the worst closet in the house...so....sorry about that. Your closet is about a foot deep (to put this in perspective an adult s…

Baby Journal: Week 33

Hi Lorelai,
We are done photographing weddings!!! This was my biggest concern for this late in my pregnancy, so the fact we got through it just fine is such a relief to me. We still have a good handful of sessions left for the rest of the year (about 15 or so) but weddings always take a lot out of me!
For Halloween this year we did a family theme for trunk-or-treat and dressed up as Winnie the Pooh characters. We had a blast, and you made for a wonderful belly full of honey! Your dad is so creative, and drew some cardboard decorations to go with the outfits. Thanks to a glue gun and some sold colored shirts, I took care of the rest of the costumes.

We keep saying there is an arbitrary date we would like you to wait until you come. Although I'd love it if you came exactly on your due date, anytime after December 2nd is just fine with me..so keep that in mind little one.
Your dad finished the cart for your nursery this week! Also Nay made the best signs for your nursery, which we…
