Baby Journal: Week 32

Hi Lorelai,
These weeks are going by so quickly! We have 1 more wedding down now, and only 1 more left to go! I shouldn't be counting down by weddings, but this was the first wedding where I sat there and thought "okay...yeah I'm getting too big for this" when it came to getting up off the couch in the lobby of the reception hall, I was pretty sure I was going to need a forklift to get me up....my motivation just wasn't there. Also I got laughed at by the bridal party when I knew the bride really wanted a photo of the whole party looking down into my camera, and the only way to do that was for the 8 month preggo lady to lay down on the sidewalk. I was happy to oblige.

Eventually we are going to start working on the housecleaning aspect of nesting, but I'm not there quite yet. The nursery is ready to go minus a couple decor items....but it's a totally usable space now. We still need lots of essentials like a mattress...but we will get there. We did get Lo…

Things I Really Didn't Know Until 3rd Trimester

There are things about pregnancy that don't come as a surprise and there are things that you're told that you never really understand til you are there. Here are a few things that no matter what someone told me...it really made no impact until I was really there living in my third trimester with a 4lb baby growing in my stomach.
You really have no concept of how large you are. Apart from when you were a baby, this is probably the quickest you've ever grown. My guess is that by the time my pregnancy is concluded, I'll have increased my weight by about 20% (or who knows...maybe 30%) in a matter of a few months. That's a lot...and fast..when you think about it. There truly are times where you forget you can't suck in, or how large your belly is...or more often than not you misjudge how tight that space is between the stranger and the table you're trying to slide behind. It's not until you go to put on that shirt that you wore 3 weeks ago...and all of a sud…

Baby Journal: Week 31

Hi Lorelai,
We had SUCH a busy weekend, but you took it like champ! We ended up having 2 back-to-back weddings, which really has been the weekend I've been dreading this entire pregnancy for fear I just couldn't do it. I ended up feeling great (thanks to lots of preparation, practice, and being aware of my limits). We had 23 hours of photography bookings in 48 hours. It was outrageous even for someone who was not growing a human.
Your dad is determined right now to find "your song". One that you will learn in the womb and love when you arrive. Something that will peak your interest as a baby (and he has seen videos of baby's stopping crying for their song...so he is hoping a simple song will fix all your tears too).
This week we painted a nightstand for the nursery, which is the last piece of furniture we were waiting on.We also hung more decorations in your nursery....which is coming together great!

Where do we stand on middle names? Honestly we've been so …

The Container Store is Opening in Omaha this Weekend!

Did you know the Container Store is coming to Omaha this weekend? You're probably wondered what they were putting in the old Westroads foodcourt area...well it's the most magical place in Omaha! If you've never been to a container store (I hadn't until the sneak preview on Thursday) I like to think of is as similar to the bottom floor of Ikea where you find yourself buying every possible cute storage and home organizing container imaginable. Only in this store, the employees are trained to help you with all of your organizing needs!

Okay people, this isn't just plastic tubs....it is a wonderful store, full of my favorite brand Umbra, as well as everything from custom closets to stocking stuffers!
The store opens at 10am on Saturday (the first 300 customers will get a $5 gift card to local restaurant) and the first 200 customers on Sunday at 11:00 will get a gift card too! Even better, prizes are given away EVERY HOUR on Saturday and Sunday! You could win a $1,00…

Baby Journal: Week 30

Hi Lorelai,
Goodness I remember thinking back a few short months ago and thinking "30 weeks of pregnancy will NEVER come...just come sooner!" and now I wish everything would slow down a little. It's not that we aren't ready....well...we aren't but that isn't the problem. No you do not have a crib mattress, diapers, creams, swaddles, I have not washed your new clothes or packed a hospital bag....but that isn't the problem. The problem is, this truly is a phase of my life that is ending, a time I will never get back...and I want to take full advantage of that so I never have any regrets.  It's like when you are about to graduate from college, or high school (I'd say when I got married but I really didn't experience this with marriage since we didn't have a big wedding to-do to plan for), you're crazy excited about the future...but still realize that you'll never get this time back again. Don't worry when it came to high school a…

Baby Journal: Week 29

Hi Lorelai,
We kicked off Week 29 with yet another trip to the airport. It's been a couple months since we've seen your dad's parents, so we made a point to go visit them once more since we can't come for the holidays this year (because you'll be too big to feel safe traveling that far)
Spending time in Denver was absolutely amazing this week. We are sad this will be the last time we will see the family before you are born, but are glad we got to visit them one last time. I think we took a step towards this all becoming real this weekend, when the family started saying next time we see you, you'll be parents. It took a "wait a second..." moment for that to really sink in.
Your Denver family loves you so much...and they gave you a beautiful baby shower to prove it! Everyone spent so much time on making a special Alice in Wonderland themed shower and dinner...your dad and I know you are so loved. We can't wait to bring you to Colorado to introduce…
