Haunting at Hogwarts- Adult's Only Event

I'll be honest, there are few things in this life I love more than Harry Potter. When the Omaha Children's Museum announced they would be hosting a Harry Potter themed event I immediate planned to go even though I didn't have any kids and assumed it would be an event geared towards children. But guess what, it gets better...this is an adult's only (18+) Harry Potter event!!! So far all of you out there who still have your robes in your closest from the opening night of all the movies...bring them back out...because this is the perfect time to wear them!

Baby Journal: Week 28

Hi Lorelai...and Hello Third Trimester!
As you may remember from last week, I'm still struggling with a cold...but we are getting so much better by the end of Week 28!

We also took another big step towards becoming a family...we bought a mini van! Okay, your dad likes to say that I bought the mini van, since he won't be driving it. That being said, I've wanted a mini van even before planning for kids...they are just so practical. We got a super rockin van...so get excited.  Your dad is going to love sitting in the back with you and watching movies on all our road trips.

On another note, we've been working hard on your nursery! We bought this beautiful vintage dresser this week, and I sewed some changing pad covers for your changing table. I've been working on even more bows, headbands and now skirts too!

What else is new this week? Well I've had this terrible pain below my ribs lately, which I'd been assuming I'd torn an ab muscle, but after a trip to …

Traveling with Uber Abroad (Without Cell Service)

Kevin and I have a new found respect for Uber while traveling. Not only did it saves us a bunch of money (and time) taking Uber to/from the airport rather than parking and paying about $5-6 a day for the long term parking lot, but we even used it traveling in Europe! Normally we are huge fans of public transportation as we have never taken a cab while traveling and always use the most economical means of travel possible (we pride ourselves on budget travel).
This was the first trip that we did the math on our way from our Airbnb (you can read more about our love for Airbnb here as well as get coupon codes for hosing and traveling) to the hotel. Since Zurich was not a huge city, we ended up paying about $8 more  ($4 per person) for a Uber ride rather than using the bus system. The bus would have taken us about 45 minutes, but because of the uncertainty of bus schedules we were planning on leaving about 75 minutes early to account for uncertainties. Also, Kevin was in charge of our suitc…

Baby Journal: Week 27

Lorelai,
Okay...here is the deal...I never understood those mothers who would give their kid such a guilt trip about how they carried them for 9 months, went through 48 hours of labor, and then changed a million diapers...but I will be one of those moms as of this week. I'm out of breath, exhausted, having trouble sleeping...and you'd better treat me like queen after this :) I'm not miserable, and am still getting a long great...but there is no question you are making life more difficult for me. I love you...but it's true.
Your dad and I had a craft weekend to work on your nursery even more! We are so excited for you to arrive, its the best way for us to prepare right now...decorate! We are working on lots of Alice in Wonderland decorations right now for your room. We also visited the apple orchard for Applejack weekend with your cousin, aunts and uncle!

I've also managed to pick up a cold this week. From what I've learned, a pregnant person has a lower immun…

Husband Quotes from the 2nd trimester

As 3rd trimester begins...you'd like the men in our lives would have figured this out by now...but not quiet. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from Kevin during our 2nd trimester!
"See that hair right here" (points to sideburns) "There is a lot more of it than there used to be. You look like wolverine"
"It's just so big" (holding onto belly with both hands)
"No, you farted....not baby"
"Yeah...that dress may be a little too tight"
You eat so much!
Me: "I think people look at me and think I'm further along than I am" Kevin: "I think you're further along than you want to admit"
"Don't jump, baby will fall out!"

Baby Journal: Week 26

Hi Lorelai,
So you're finally back in the states...but you had an awesome time right? Back here you are kicking up a storm, and your dad can see you kick on a regular basis now.
We visited the doctor this week for the glucose test and we passed with flying colors! The one thing we didn't pass was iron (no surprise there as I've had this issue before pregnancy) so we get to start taking even more iron meds every day.

According to the size of my uterus (which is actually measured with a little measuring tape which I find hilarious) you are right on track for growth.

This week was also my birthday, which means I'll be 29 years old when you are born! Thanks for easing me into turning 30...as I think being a mom will be more shocking to me than turning the big 3-0.

We are working on your nursery a lot lately! We ordered fabric for your crib sheet and curtains...and I went crazy ordering more fabric for cute little things like skirts and bows! We still have a lot to go, bu…
