Over the long holiday weekend (we made it long!) our family took a trip up north! We flew into Buffalo/Niagara to first visit the falls, then headed up to Toronto for the rest of the weekend.
Our first day we spent half the day at Niagara falls (Canada side) and walked around enjoying the falls and outdoors!
The second half the day we drove the hour or so up to Toronto and headed straight for the Distillery District for dinner and shopping at the St. Lawrence Market. Then headed to our Airbnb for the night.
I cannot stress enough how much we love staying at Airbnb's when traveling with a toddler (actually we love them all the time, but with a kid it is especially nice). If you haven't tried it, use this link to get $40 off your first trip! We stayed in an awesome house, in the heart of everything touristy we wanted to visit. It was a 2 bedroom home, so Lorelai had her own space which let us explore and stay up later than we would otherwise have been able to with a sleeping toddler in a hotel room.
Our Airbnb was walking distance from a lot of the sights we wanted to visit the next day, so we started off walking down Graffiti Alley.
Then on to the "half house" ---literally half a house, which is pretty neat.
And over to the park to visit the Toronto sign. This day also happened to be "Canada Day" which is their Independence Day, so lots of celebrating was happening throughout the city. We stopped by Queens Park to enjoy a festival, then walked through Kensignton Market before heading back for Lorelai's nap.
In the evening we walked down to the harbour got some Poutine and visited the CN Tower (not so long ago the tallest tower in the world!)
Our third day we took the rail car to High Park and the zoo in the park, then popped over to the Bata Shoe Museum and Royal Ontario Museum for the rest of the day!
Our final day was just a few hours in the morning before heading back down to the states. We spent the morning at Toronto Islands, which was one of our favorite stops! We loved the ferry ride over to the islands, which was a nice little getaway. First it was just gorgeous, it was one big island that was really one big park. From a "Franklin Garden" (you know the turtle in the kids books/tv show) to the splash pad, lighthouse, theme park and awesome view of the Toronto Skyline....we loved it!
It was the perfect end to a perfect trip!
