Around the same time we became parents, we purchased our first google home. Now 1.5 years later...we have an additional 3 google homes, and 2 alexas....because we absolutely love them.
Debate all you want about how "big brother" can listen in on my conversations and knows more about me than I do myself. I've decided its simply the way of the future, and there have to be more interesting people than our little family to listen to each day!

Here are a few ways we use (or could use) our google home to make life a little easier.
Hands free clock- This sounds so silly, but the number of times I'm wrestling our toddler to get shoes on, or in the middle of Dr. Seuss book neither of us want to put down, it is easy to ask google what time it is, so we don't have to stop everything just to find out we have another 10 minutes before we need to leave the house.
Hands free ETA- Along with the above, asking google how long it will take to get to X.
Bedroom heater/fan control- We love that our google controls an outlet in Lorelai's room. That way, if after we put her to bed we notice her room is extra hot or cold, we can (without going into wake her) turn on/off the heater and fan in her room to help accommodate! Not waking a sleeping baby is top of my list of things you care about when you are a new parents!
Hands-free store hours- Our library has weird hours, because the adult and children's libraries are open at alternating times. Asking google which library is open has saved us a number of times!

Grocery Lists- When you're screaming toddler is attached to your leg and you're in the kitchen when you realize you are out of milk...you can tell google to add it to your grocery list!
Phone Calls- Or with the above scenario, even better you can ask google to call your husband to have him pick up milk while he is at the store!
Learning to Talk- Do you want to know how cute it is to hear a toddler say "Google" ("Goo-Goo")??
Surround Sound Dance Parties- We love to crank up her tunes and dance. And with google we can do it in all rooms of the house at once. It also helps when hands are full (like we are sitting down to breakfast) and Lorelai is getting close to a meltdown...a quick "Hey Google, play Lorelai's Playlist" gets her smiling again.
Timers- Timers for the kitchen, timeouts, reminders you need to leave for a dr. appoint or play date have good set a time for 30 minutes and it will remind you!
Read Stories. Did you know google will read you a story?
You can tell google to remind you of things. Like telling google to remind you where you put X. For example you can tell google "remember to tell Kevin about dinner tomorrow" or "remember I put the passports in the backpack already" and then you can ask google about it later!
Do you love your google home or other smart device? What is your favorite thing to do with it?
