Kevin and I LOVE Southwest. The last 2 years we have flown for free just by using our Southwest miles from signing up for a credit card.
Southwest is having their extra credit card deal right now, where you get 50,000 points for signing up (rather than the usual 40,000). We have found flights to Denver for as little as 1,300 points, but often you can find them for as little as 5,000 to put that in perspective! If you play your cards right, you can take a number of flights just on your bonus points!
Use this link to sign up and get you 50,000 points!
Unlike many financial gurus, we actually use credit cards on a regular basis. We believe that if you pay them off each week (rather than month) it functions like a debit card, but gives you the perks of a credit card. Each week sounds like a lot of work, but with mobile apps, its actually incredibly easy. It also gives you other perks/protections like rental car protection that we have used (yes, I have gotten in an accident with a rental car...no surprise there).
