Hi Lorelai,
We kicked off Week 29 with yet another trip to the airport. It's been a couple months since we've seen your dad's parents, so we made a point to go visit them once more since we can't come for the holidays this year (because you'll be too big to feel safe traveling that far)
Spending time in Denver was absolutely amazing this week.
We are sad this will be the last time we will see the family before you are
born, but are glad we got to visit them one last time. I think we took a step
towards this all becoming real this weekend, when the family started saying
next time we see you, you'll be parents. It took a "wait a second..."
moment for that to really sink in.
Your Denver family loves you so much...and they gave you
a beautiful baby shower to prove it! Everyone spent so much time on making a
special Alice in Wonderland themed shower and dinner...your dad and I know you
are so loved. We can't wait to bring you to Colorado to introduce you to
everyone soon.
I have to say, I had an embarrassing laugh-attack at the
in-laws house this week. First, your dad looked down at my feet after church
and said "Your feet are giant!!" Thinking your dad was just being
dramatic, I looked down and....whoa...giant could not even begin to express how
my feet looked. It caught me so off guard, I started laughing....and
laughing...and crying so hard I just couldn't stop laughing. They looked like a
complete stranger's feet. I had absolutely no shape to them anymore. I said it
looked like I was a doll that had no left/right foot...it was just a foot. Your
dad kindly pointed out I also had rolls in my feet with creases where there
shouldn't be...it was terrible. Blame the salt intake, altitude...I have no
idea. But these feet put my other swollen feet to shame. The whole family got
such a kick out of it. Your dad said I don't laugh like that very much, which
is probably true, so they had never seen me act like that. It still makes me
laugh thinking of it. In reality, I was probably in shock and that was the only
thing I could even think to do.
We also found out early in Week 29 that the pains I'd
been having in my stomach are most likely due to a torn ab muscle (Which I must
say is what I thought this was to begin with). I still have lots of pain, but
it's nice to know it is nothing medically serious that we will need to monitor
throughout pregnancy.
Symptoms: Those swollen feet just about take the cake on
this one...but I'm still dealing with a ton of heartburn. Since its not
something I've dealt with before, I'm not good at noticing triggers here on
what makes it worse, but I'm trying! Your kicks are just as strong as ever! I am absolutely loving not being lactose intolerant right now, which is good since milk helps with the heartburn and you need lots of calcium. I drink multiple huge glasses of milk a day, along with a big bowl of my protein cereal and occasional cheese. It certainly helps with getting my required protein doses in for each day!
Promise: As we plan out what we will be doing next year, your dad and I want to make sure to take you on a fun road trip. I promise to do everything we can to make your road trip fun...and not miserable!
